Work it

Have I disclosed my obsession with winter coats? I popped into a few shops today, quite sneakily I might add since its technically a self imposed 'work only' weekend, and it was nice to see that the remaining neglected garments from the sales have been whisked off in favour of warm toned autumn winter collections. While searching for pretty fall dresses, I became distracted, very distracted by chic camel coats and shearling lined cream vests. Needless to say, I had a very hard time giving them up once it was tried on and longingly caressed. The warm weather, thankfully perhaps, meant that only a pair of super straight taupe pants quietly followed me home. So those of you not confined to your computer this lovely day, put on your best outfit, go for a midday scout round the shops and then indulge in a sensually named cocktail as dusk gently falls... all the plans I've rescheduled till the weekend after.

Denim beauty

Ah denim. While working to create some sort of order from the mélange of inspirational images I've accumulated on my desktop, I discovered this folder, labelled quite simply 'Denim'.
It really is the one trend in fashion that never really comes and goes. Adored internationally, its that chameleon that can be viewed either 'snooty high end' or 'basic rough and tumble'.
But chances are you'll love that Balenciaga or J Brand jeans that make your derrière look like a million bucks as much as you do that decade old pair of levi's that's torn and tattered, soft as butter and no where near ready to be donated to the Salvation Army!
So as August gradually inches towards September, I think it's about time to shake out my much ignored jeans and be inspired by these lovely looks.

PS: Is anyone excited about the Alexa for Madewell collection? It debuts 9/9 online and I'm quite curious to see what it holds!

Contemplation in Paris

The Tuileries on a cool July morning could just be Heaven. My idea of it at least. Emerging from the bustling early morning Metro crowd into this timeless sanctuary, I took a slow stroll towards the fountain and settled down gratefully into one of the much photographed steel, light green recliners. With the air still fresh with dew and the sense of quiet appreciation from other like minded visitors enveloping the surroundings, I felt a stillness and peacefulness that I haven't experienced in a long time.

Here a glimpse of the Louvre...

I must say, it has really been too long since I said Hello to everyone here so a big hug and thank you for the nice comments! I'm reeling slightly from the whirlwind dash across London and Paris and then coming home to find myself thrown into a demanding schedule that will only ease up in November. Nevertheless, its really comfortable to be back and be able to share some pictures of this little adventure with you.

I decided to keep this set about the Jardin purely because I felt such joy when I was there but come back again for Mademoiselle Chanel, sweets and summer along the Seine...
