Parisian charm via New York

Interior designer Paula Caravelli, one half of design team Paula + Martha has created a charming space with European flair in her upper east side abode. I have to confess, I fell hard for this place as soon as I saw it! Just like the french, this apartment conveys that signature effortless style. No obvious design trends, nothing loud or pretentious. The atmosphere spells serene elegance with timeless touches and a neutral background accented by perfect pops of colour. If this apartment was a person, it would undoubtedly be the quintessential parisian girl clothed in essential black and smoky greys, an Hermès scarf insouciantly knotted around her swan-like neck. Et voila, instant je ne sais quoi.

Vintage spoon chairs unbelievably found at a Salvation Army thrift shop flank a brass cocktail table by Gerald Bland.

Vintage vases in colours of a swirled sunset are displayed magnificently atop a neoclassical Italian commode. A painting by Caravelli’s uncle pulls everything together and highlights a corner in the home that might easily have been overlooked.
