Pia describes {Paris: Made by Hand} as an insider’s look at the city’s artisans, createurs, and crafts boutiques. Thumbing through the pages, the reader will discover ateliers that have recently appeared as well as some which have been around for years, tucked into hidden courtyards or Paris's oldest passageways.
One of places that caught my interest immediately was Marie Louise De Monterey, a vintage clothing boutique opened by Maria Vrisakis in 2007. Here, one has the chance to pick out elegant and feminine garments with timeless appeal. Besides the unique vintage collection, the store located in the 3rd Arrondisement of Paris is also the first to carry Lyell's line in Europe.
Maria, the proprietor explains that "Lyell has the fine details of early 20th century clothing, but the shapes are quite modern". Thus they present a harmonious complement to her special handpicked pieces.
Browsing through past collections, I simply fell in love with this set of photographs, some in black and white channelling old-world Paris, some simply carefree and bathed in light.
A visit to both stores are definitely in order.
